Community Action Suffolk and Haverhill Volunteer Centre marked Suffolk Action Week with a Volunteering Fair at Abbeycroft Leisure on 6th October.

The event was attended by representatives from Families Together Suffolk and Suffolk Archives and there were lots of enquiries from prospective volunteers looking for opportunities to volunteer locally.

Families Together Suffolk 

Families Together Suffolk offers friendly, practical help and support to families with at least one child under 11. Volunteers regularly visit families in their own homes to help prevent crisis and family breakdown; to be supportive in tough times.

Suffolk Archives

Suffolk Archives manage the historical archives for the county of Suffolk. These archives include a wide range of historical council and parish records, plus
various commercial records, local historic book collections, local historic newspapers and various personal items. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, and would like to fill in our volunteer registration form, please contact us on volunteer.archives@suffolk.gov.uk

Other opportunities 

Sue Ryder: General Volunteer. The volunteer would learn the till, all things customer service, stock processing and all back of house functions. No experience necessary.

Till Volunteer: A role serving customers using the till and providing good customer service. No experience necessary.

Stockroom Processor Volunteer: The volunteer would learn all things back of house within charity retail, including Gift Aid, pricing, stock rotation and much more. No experience necessary.

eBay Volunteer: A volunteer would take ownership of our eBay sales, helping to research, value and list our items ready for sale online. A basic level of computer skills and knowledge of eBay required. 

 Signposters and Listeners: Sign Posters are required to welcome people into The Link and use a laptop to access our database to look up services/clubs etc
as requested. You will also be required to answer the telephone and keep a log of enquiries. The database is simple to use, and full training will be given. You will be working alongside ‘Listener’ volunteers who will be offering a listening ear to any adults who want to talk.
