2023

This month the Good Neighbour Scheme made its 500th delivery. The scheme was started during lockdown and continues to support some Haverhill residents with their shopping. If you would like to volunteer for the scheme to shop for an elderly person please contact us.

Suffolk Action Week

To celebrate Suffolk Action Week we will be joining with Community Action Suffolk and Abbeycroft Leisure to hold another Community Volunteering Fair.
This will take place on Friday 6th October at the Haverhill Leisure Centre. 

Please call in and see the volunteering opportunities on offer, or share your experience of volunteering with us, more details will follow on our social media.

Terrific Tuesdays Dementia Group 

Welcoming new volunteers and would love to see some male volunteers joining them.
They are also seeking a volunteer who holds a Food Hygiene Certificate or would be prepared to work towards the qualification.

Meetings take place 11am until 2pm at the
CHESTNUT ROOM, BURTON CENTRE, ABOVE HAVERHILL LIBRARY

Haverhill Rainbows 

Require an adult volunteer (18+ no upper limit) every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm at the Methodist Church Hall Haverhill. Girls aged 4 to 7
have fun doing crafts, games and working for badges. To visit us for a taster session please contact jill.moss@haverhill-tc.gov.uk

SIGNPOSTERS and LISTENERS

Signposters and listeners are required to welcome people into The Link and use a laptop to access our database to look up services/clubs etc as requested. You will also be required to answer telephone enquiries and keep a log of enquires. The database is simple to use and full training will be given. You will be working alongside ‘Listener’ volunteers who will be offering a listening ear to any adults who
want to talk.

Location: Based in ‘The Link’ our Free Local Information and Listening Service in Haverhill High Street.
Availability: The time commitment is a minimum of one morning or afternoon a week and will be agreed with the Commanding Officers

The Voluntary Network

The Voluntary network requires Befrienders in Haverhill to visit people who are isolated or to provide a weekly chat over the telephone.
Volunteer drivers are also needed to provide transport for outpatient appointments.

Our Special Friends 

Our Special Friends need your special doggy friends to visit housebound people who are unable to have a dog of their own. If you have a friendly sociable dog who enjoys attention, and a hour to offer, please email frances.roach@ourspecialfriends.org
