Community Action Suffolk and Haverhill Volunteer Centre marked Suffolk Action Week with a Volunteering Fair at Abbeycroft Leisure on 6th October.

The event was attended by representatives from Families Together Suffolk and Suffolk Archives and there were lots of enquiries from prospective volunteers looking for opportunities to volunteer locally.

September 2023

This month the Good Neighbour Scheme made its 500th delivery. The scheme was started during lockdown and continues to support some Haverhill residents with their shopping. If you would like to volunteer for the scheme to shop for an elderly person please contact us.

To celebrate Suffolk Action Week we will be joining with Community Action Suffolk and Abbeycroft Leisure to hold another Community Volunteering Fair. This will take place on Friday 6th October at the Haverhill Leisure Centre.

Terrific Tuesdays Dementia Group

The group welcomes new volunteers and would love to see some male volunteers joining them.
They are also seeking a volunteer who holds a Food Hygiene Certificate or would be prepared to work towards the qualification.

August 2023

It was great to see lots of people at the Big Day Out a few weeks ago.

Digital Champions

Could you spare a little time to introduce someone to the benefits of using their phone, ipad or laptop to do simple tasks such as filling in forms, online shopping or keeping in touch with loved ones? Volunteers are urgently needed to set up a group of supporters in Haverhill.

The Salvation Army

Volunteer Signposters and Listeners are urgently needed at The Link service in Haverhill High Street. Signposters direct members of the public to services held on the database, and Listeners are there for a friendly chat. Volunteers work in pairs and full training will be given.

July 2023

A number of volunteering opportunities are available this summer. Here is a small section of the job below:

Open Mind – a local and free mental health drop-in service. The group needs more male volunteers to join the team. Training and DBS will be provided to suitable candidates.

Haverhill in the Park – a three-day family music festival which takes place on the Recreation Ground in the town centre. The Town Council requires a number of volunteers to work the festival alongside the Council team. The festival will run from Friday18 August till Sunday 20 August. Volunteers aged 16 and over will be supervised and will get throughout the day.

Memories are Golden – a Charitable organisation bringing together people living with Dementia and those that may be at risk of social isolation. Volunteers are needed to support the members during sessions.

May 2023

It has been a busy time preparing for the BIG HELP OUT on 8th May at Abbeycroft Leisure.

The Volunteer Centre is currently supporting people to look for opportunities to volunteer as part of a scheme run by their employer.

A volunteer is needed to support a lady who would like to gain knowledge and skills to maintain her garden.

The Town Council requires a number of volunteers to work the festival alongside the Council team in order to safely be able to run the event. If you are able to offer your time then we would love to hear from you.
